Wrapped up with Winter Warmth

During the cold and wet winter months the need for warm clothing increases sharply, we can only imagine how difficult life must be for those forced into sleeping rough.

Living on the streets or in temporary shelters exposes individuals to extreme weather conditions, so to kickstart the year, Benham and Reeves joined forces with Agents Giving by taking part in their Winter Warmth campaign. This is an initiative which encourages the property sector to take donations of coats, warm clothing and hygiene products and get them to a charity that specifically works with those affected by homelessness.

Across their 21 London branches, Benham and Reeves have teamed up with The Salvation Army who will be distributing all the donated items, getting much-needed clothing and toiletries to those facing or experiencing homelessness this winter.

Vidhur Mehra, Finance Director at Benham and Reeves comments “We decided to do this in January to keep up the momentum started by others last November and it has been very humbling to see the various teams across our company working together to bring warmth and comfort to those less fortunate. In all, we handed over 350 items to the Salvation Army who experience a shortage of warm clothing for those experiencing homelessness or economic hardship at the start of the year.”

“Making a positive difference to the lives of those less fortunate and championing causes we believe in is a key component of our community philosophy” Vidhur adds. “This is why we regularly partner with charities such as the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the Disasters Emergency Committee and Crisis. We also provide resources to ‘ABC’, an overseas charity dedicated to providing educational support and English language skills to young people. These collective causes will always remain close to our hearts and benefit from our financial support. The Winter Warmth campaign has made a real difference to the lives of those who most need it making this a wonderful start to our charitable giving efforts for 2024”.
