Renters’ Reform Bill Key changes landlords need to know

The planned Renters' Reform Bill aims to improve the laws affecting the UK private rental market.

The abolition of no-fault evictions means that UK property Landlords will need a valid reason for evicting a tenant e.g. breach of tenancy agreement or not paying rent on time.

Tenant living conditions will improve due to Awaab’s Law & the Decent Homes Standard. Properties will need to meet new legal standards and serious hazards fixed within set timeframes.

Rent increases during an existing fixed-term tenancy will not be allowed.

Landlords will need to rent their properties at the rent advertised. Bidding for properties will no longer be allowed.

Discrimination against tenants with children and pets will be against the law.

The Renters’ Reform Bill might put Landlords off letting their properties. The Bill is likely to increase rents and make it more expensive to live in the UK.
