Each month we bring the latest celebrity moves news in London. Whether they are trading up as their star is in the ascendant or trading down as they lose their lustre, we have the latest news of who is buying, selling, renting or simply househunting.
Naked beauty
Celebrity stylist Gok Wan is parting with his Hampstead home. Formerly the home of architectural historical Nikolaus Pevsner, Gok bought the mid-terraced home opposite the Heath several years ago and systematically transformed it into a beautiful home with three double bedrooms, two reception rooms, a new kitchen, dining room and petite garden. We have a similar four bedroom property to let in Lower Terrace, Hampstead, moments from the open spaces of the Heath.
The luck of the draw
Damian Hirst must be thanking his lucky stars. One of the world’s wealthiest artists, Hirst applied for planning permission to extend his Regent’s Park property, including a double height glass extension and an “art handling lift” that would transport sculptures and other artwork to the basement level of the £40 million home that was designed by John Nash. Although Westminster Council recommended the plans be rejected on the basis that too many trees would have to be cut down, the artist got planning permission anyway… minus the lift. We guess he’s going to have to use the stairs. If you’re more of a fan of Damian Hirst, check out his newly opened Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall. This two bed apartment is just around the corner in Riverlight Quay development in the up & coming area of Nine Elms.
From humble beginnings
Any fan of Ricky Gervais will recall his hilarious account of living in a small, rented apartment with his long-term partner, Jane Fallon. With only a communal bathroom to be used by the buildings’ residents, let’s just say that you might not have wanted to have popped round for a meal from their kitchenette. But oh how the worm turns. Ricky and Jane Fallon are now selling their Hampstead Heath mansion for £7,750,000 now that they’ve bought a £10.5 million property nearby. Ricky’s neighbours probably have mixed feelings about him leaving; he apparently angered a lot of them when his builders were creating the £1 million basement leisure suite that includes a swimming pool and golf simulator. If Ricky’s former home is beyond your budget, this two bed flat near Hampstead Heath is nearby.
Graceful living in Ealing
Culture vultures may also want to consider Margot Fonteyn’s former home in Ealing. The prime ballerina assoluta moved to the ‘Queen of the Suburbs’ when she was four and lived there until 1928. Her former home on Elm Grove Road is now up for sale. It has seven bedrooms and has nearly 5,000 square feet of living space. This three bedroom apartment in the Dickens Yard development in Ealing offers plenty of space to practice your moves.
It’s on the house
Choices, choices. Celebrities now have to decide whether to remain loyal to celebrity mecca Shoreditch House or to switch their allegiance to The Curtain Hotel and Private Members Club which is due to open around the corner. Michael Achenbaum, the man behind the club, has confirmed the club will “actively pursue a celebrity clientele”. Given that the Kardashians, Beckhams, Jolie-Pitts and Rihanna flock to his New York hotels, put your name down for membership consideration now. The club is due to open on Curtain Road in Shoreditch mid-2016. If you’re looking to join the hipsters in east London, consider this trendy two bedroom penthouse apartment nearby in Old Street.
