Imperial living in SW6

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Imperial WharfImperial is a fitting name for Imperial Wharf – a luxe, grand-scale property development situated by the river in Fulham and just one mile from one of London’s most fashionable streets, The King’s Road.

Designed by Tier 1 UK developer, St George, the scheme could quite easily be referred to as an empire, with its luxurious apartments offering the type of easy modern living London’s renters have become so accustomed to.

In fact the development is so popular, it has brought about a brand-new SW6 location, Sands End. Nestled between Chelsea and Fulham, the development has turned this area into a vibrant and cultural riverside hub, with its own Overground station, relaxing open spaces and a multitude of shops and restaurants..

Properties in Imperial Wharf

Launched in 2009, Imperial Wharf is a forerunner and has set the standard for London riverside living, comprising modern studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments with private balconies, many with uninterrupted river views and spacious interiors. The surrounding area is a mix of buzzing cafes, bars and restaurants, which with its cosmopolitan boulevard, makes for a real village feel. There’s a 24-hour concierge on hand, lush communal gardens, and a residents’ gym, swimming pool and spa, not to mention its own marina. Rentals start at £400 per week.

Imperial Wharf isn’t the only development in the area. Thanks to its popularity, a collection of modern and sleek developments have popped up, offering a range of choice for people thinking of moving into this pocket of SW6. Chelsea Creek offers apartments ranging from stylish Manhattan’s to spectacular semi-penthouses, including amenities such as a 24-hour concierge, attractive gardens, and a fitness hub with gym, swimming pool and spa. Rentals start from £375 per week.

Chelsea Harbour is a high-profile development made up of residential apartments, a luxury hotel, and a small non-commercial marina, home to luxury yachts and speedboats. Rentals start from £600 per week.

Fulham Riverside is another premium development in the area and is situated amongst a picturesque landscaped garden with a 10ft waterfall feature. The sleekly-designed apartments are made up of studios, one, two and three bedroom properties, offering balconies with river views. Amenities include a 24-hour concierge, riverside café, gym and underground parking. Rentals start from £425 per week.

Travel made easy

Imperial Wharf Overground station

Before 2009, Sands End was bereft of good transport options, making it an unpopular place to live as residents often had long commutes. Enter Imperial Wharf Overground, which was launched alongside the development. There are currently four trains an hour between Clapham Junction in the south and Willesden Junction in the north of London. Southern Trains also run an hourly service from Milton Keynes to East Croydon. Additionally, the Thames Clipper which stops at nearby Chelsea Harbour, provides a stress-free , scenic commute up and down river and has proved extremely popular with tenants.

Fulham Broadway Tube station is located less than a mile away and is around a 15-minute walk from Imperial Wharf. Served by the District Line, the station offers direct services into the City, as well as stops at Earls Court, High Street Kensington and Bayswater.

Fashionista heaven

The King’s Road

If you’re located in a South-West London postcode, you can be sure there will be fashionable shopping amenities within easy reach. Imperial Wharf is just one mile away from one of the most fashionable of all, The King’s Road.

Home to the famous Peter Jones department store, the street offers a selection of boutique shops, galleries such as the Saatchi Art Gallery, upmarket furnishing stores, independent clothing shops and the Chelsea Cinema.

Fulham Broadway is also within walking distance, where you’ll find the Fulham Broadway shopping centre offering high-street shops, eateries, fitness centres and a cinema. Walk along the Broadway and you’ll find niche shops and boutiques, giving residents a wide range of choice, whether they want high-street favourites or independent boutiques.

Restaurants in Imperial Wharf

There are plenty of popular restaurants located moments away from the Imperial Wharf development; The Blue Elephant is a luxury Thai restaurant specialising in authentic Thai cuisine and Yamal Alsham, which offers Lebanese and Syrian cuisine, mixing traditional dishes with modern takes on old favourites. The Waterside Bar and Kitchen is situated on the banks of the River Thames and has an Anglo-American inspired menu. Why not try their signature dish, ‘Ironed Chicken’, surrounded by scenic views of the marina?

Back on The King’s Road, Marco Pierre White’s Kings Road Steakhouse & Grill offers a classic line-up of steaks from the famous chef, while The Big Easy restaurant is fast becoming one of the most popular American restaurants in London. A visit here is highly recommended, but make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

Fulham Broadway offers restaurants in a slightly more casual form; Wagamama, Pizza Express and Nandos are all located in the shopping centre and offer a cheaper alternative to the pricier restaurants on The King’s Road.

Open spaces

Open spaces are an important part of any residential area. Thankfully, Imperial Wharf has a good selection, including Imperial Park, which features a tree-lined avenue along with extensive grassed areas, a children’s play area and a boating pond. However, the main attraction is the Sensory Gardens – an area divided into three spaces dedicated to the senses of aroma, sight and touch.

Eel Brook Common is located less than a mile away and offers the chance of a scenic stroll along the grassed areas. It also hosts local fairs and you can find many people attending the weekly boot camps on the common.

South Park is made up of 7.9 acres of open spaces and is home to many a sporting activity, thanks to its cricket ground, football pitches, tennis courts, netball and basketball courts.

Renting at Imperial Wharf

With a selection of modern developments, plenty of open spaces, great variety of restaurants and some of the most sought-after shopping streets in London, Imperial Wharf is very much an area for the now. This is reflected by the amount of enquires we see each month.
