Are you a fan of the popular TV series, Through the Keyhole? It’s always a bit of fun to see how the other half live isn’t it. From the small little flats where actors lived before hitting the big time to the palatial mansions they now reside in, we bring you the homes of the rich and famous in London.
Hollywood Life
It was with great sadness that we learned of Jackie Collins’ passing in September. The prolific bonkbuster novelist was a native Londoner and lived in St John’s Wood up until the 1980s when she decamped permanently to Hollywood. Her former home, an end of terrace Victorian home, is now on the market for £11.5 million. We have a very Collins-esque apartment to let around the corner. Check out the zebra print chairs.
Everyone needs a bit of colour in their life
Janet Street Porter famously threatened to disembowel starchitect David Adjaye during the design and build of her house in Clerkenwell. They seemed to patch up their differences just enough to complete the house although Street Porter rejected his austere interiors in favour of flamboyant and colourful furnishings. She put the house on the market for £3.95m last May but has yet to find a buyer so has reduced the price to £3.5m. Once she sells, perhaps she should consider neutral décor as seen in this nearby apartment.
Up where we belong
We are still perturbed that we didn’t get an invite to the penthouse launch of the year. The two storey mansion in the sky at South Bank Tower was launched to great fanfare and saw supermodels such as Erin O’Connor and Lily Cole dancing along to the tunes of Paloma Faith who gave a private concert. The penthouse has been snapped up already, but you can live the supermodel lifestyle in this apartment in the same building.
Like attracts like
What is it about this mews house? A property in Belsize Park has just come on the market for £3.5 million that was once the home of not just one star but three. Famed photographer Sir Cecil Beaton made it his home in the early 20th century before it eventually passed to the actor Roy Kinnear. More recently it has belonged to hunky actor Sean Bean. Go celebrity spotting in Belsize Park at this spacious apartment.
Back to the 90s
Does anyone remember the bittersweet British comedy Jack and Sarah? Really? Just us? Order it on Netflix. It’s worth it. The four bedroom home in Holland Park that served as the home of Richard E Grant in the film is now on the market for £5.25m. If you’re a nanny with a big heart looking for a place of your own, consider this nearby apartment.
Hang on, lads, I’ve got a great idea
Sir Michael Caine has been pictured house-hunting with his wife Shakira in the Chelsea area. Caine and his wife already own a penthouse pied-à-terre in Chelsea Harbour so perhaps they’re considering a new property for investment. If so, call us, Michael. We’ll get you a great tenant. Just a suggestion, Imperial Wharf is just next door and properties herealways let quickly
