An exciting new era for South East London property

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Any major transport upgrade will improve a city’s housing stock, whether it’s Singapore, Shanghai or London. Lombard Square in Plumstead, Tube fare zone 4, is a new property development that is only a ten-minute walk away from the infrastructural game-changer that is the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail). Investing here is to take part in one of London’s most important regeneration stories since the Isle of Dogs overhaul back in the eighties.

Myro House is the first phase at Lombard Square. With a tastefully designed collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments, the scheme is going to catapult the location into a strong rental hotspot.

Green spaces near the River Thames

Although close to fast rail links into Central London, Lombard Square is integral to the local community and developers Berkeley are on a mission to ensure that the site is left greener than it was before building commenced. Podium gardens, green walkways and a centrally-located lake make Lombard Square a peaceful haven for busy corporate professionals and young families alike and many apartments have balconies that overlook these same spaces. Put together, they cover an area twice the size of most Premiership football pitches and combined with the surrounding parkland and wildflower meadows, they provide places for people to relax, unwind and enjoy nature. This is in keeping with the area’s leafy heritage as spaces like Plumstead Common and Slade Ravine are reminders of when plum trees were extensively grown here: hence the name “Plumstead”.

A great lifestyle in and around Plumstead

Access to top-class amenities is an important component of any prospective buyer’s wish list in London and on that score, Lombard Square does not disappoint. Overseen by a 12-hour concierge service, the on-site gym and 24-hour parcel reception are designed to help residents with their busy schedules. Electric car charging points and secure cycle storage encourage sustainable living and the maintenance of a low-carbon footprint. At Ground level, provision has been made for restaurants, shops and office space. The riverside pubs and restaurants that have made neighbouring Woolwich and Greenwich so popular are easily accessible, as are the artisan shops and coffee bars of nearby Blackheath.

Higher learning opportunities

Lombard Square is already close to the University of Greenwich, but the new Elizabeth Line brings many other world-class centres of learning to within a 30 minute journey from its doorstep. After a brisk ten-minute to Woolwich Station, residents can be in Central London (Tottenham Court Road) in nineteen. From there, they are just a stroll away from LSE, UCL and UAL: all global leaders in higher education and research. Eltham College is a top-performing independent school that is a only a short drive away.

Easy connections open up South East London

Students aren’t the only ones to benefit from Plumstead’s  increased connectivity. Corporate high-flyers will appreciate the massively reduced journey times into Canary Wharf which is only seven minutes from Crossrail’s Woolwich Station. This is a radical development, because although they face each other across the River Thames, South East London and Docklands have been historically difficult to connect. The opening of a DLR station at Woolwich Arsenal was an improvement, but even then, a  short hop between Plumstead and Canary Wharf would have been deemed impossible. Plumstead has its own mainline station that is one stop eastwards from Woolwich Arsenal (Zone 4) and shares a direct route to London Bridge (24 minutes).

South East London is one of the final frontiers of London’s regeneration push. Wide open spaces and a beautiful riverfront make it family-friendly and new transport links give it massive rent appeal.
