It’s April and we find ourselves right in the middle of spring. We’re hoping you did check out the Kew Gardens like we recommended last month. Talk about Gram aesthetic! The whole place is popping with Cherry Blossoms & Crocuses. It’s verifiably the biggest spring flower display in the UK. If you haven’t checked it out yet, do go soon. ‘Tis 100% the season for some serious nature walking whether that be in London’s parks or nature reserves.

What’s on in London – April 2025

April is also the month for some truly grand spectacles of athletic prowess in the capital. We have events happening that are of national and international importance.

London Landmarks Half Marathon – 6 April, 2025

If you’ve ever dreamt of racing through both the City of London and the City of Westminster, with a complete absence of motor traffic of any sort disturbing you, this is the marathon for you. The route is an exquisite sightseeing tour of the capital with runners passing sights like St Paul’s, Monument, the Tower of London, the London Eye and so on.

Sikh New Year “Vaisakhi festival” – April 19, 2025

Organised by the Mayor of London in partnership with the NPF Vaisakhi London, this Sikh New Year event at Trafalgar Square is a must attend for the culturally curious. There will be Punjabi music, dancing, live performances, community stalls, and even some free snacks and tea.

Easter Sunday – April 20, 2025

It’s the first bank holiday of the year, people. We must take advantage! Take the kiddies out to the iconic grounds of the Hampton Palace for some Lindt Bunny hunting. Or to any of the other numerous egg hunting activities like the ones at London zoo and Golden Square. And no matter what your age, we think it’s a worthwhile day to stuff oneself sick with chocolate.

Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race – April 13, 2025

Ah yes, another sporting event. This is “The Boat Race” between the Cambridge University Boat Club and the Oxford University Boat Club. A cherished tradition since 1829, the race is as British as an event can get. The 4-mile race can be viewed from various vantage points like the Putney Bridge, Hammersmith Bridge, etc. Keep a close eye on the official Boat Race website for race details, like start times and crew line-ups. Lots of places like local pubs will have viewing parties so plan an itinerary early on to make the best out of the day.

Brick Lane Jazz Festival (April 25 to 27)

It’s three whole days of some of the best of the vibrant London underground music scene! Enjoy new and old acts from nu jazz to hip-hop, neo-soul, electronic and more. This once a year shindig takes place in and around the iconic Truman Brewery.

TCS London Marathon (27 April, 2025)

The TCS London Marathon is on the 27th of April. One of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, this is one of the most important sporting events of the marathon calendar globally. Whether you run it, are a pacer, volunteer or just want to cheer on from dedicated spectator areas along the route, this is an event that truly showcases the indomitable spirit of human perseverance. 2024 saw 53,890 runners, walkers and wheel chair users participate and £73.5 million raised. The marathon will also be broadcasted on various BBC platforms for those who want to follow it from home.
