London Sales Manager ran the London Marathon to better the lives of children and young adults

Benham and Reeves London Sales Manager, Philip Lingard, took part in the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 23^rd April 2023 and raised over £5,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Philip, who has a love of running, regularly gets up before dawn to pound the pavements of Carshalton and the streets of South East London. But this time it was for raising awareness and much-needed funds for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a charity that Benham and Reeves have long been supporters of.

No Government funding for the CF Trust

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust receives no Government funding, its entirely dependent on public giving so we want to help Philip raise as much money as possible.  One hundred per cent of what is donated goes directly to the charity via the JustGiving platform.

Philip had a stellar run, beating his 2016 Marathon time by 15 minutes, despite being 8 years older and 8 pounds heavier!

Getting our people involved

Staff at Benham and Reeves have been hugely supportive and really wanted to do their part to help raise as much money as possible. So a friendly football match against our sister company, furnishing solutions provider InStyle Direct, was played on Tuesday 21^st March.  This was perfectly complemented by a cake bake sale and a total of £1,430 was raised, which got the donations off to an incredible start.

The goal had to be raised!

Benham and Reeves Finance Director Vidhur Mehra commented “It’s always such a pleasure to help The Cystic Fibrosis Trust in any way we can and when Philip said he would like to take part in the London Marathon to raise funds, we instantly wanted to get behind him. Philip, who has been with the company over 5 years, really did us proud because he smashed his initial fundraising goal within 1 week of launching his JustGiving page! And with so many clients and friends lending their support, we are all blown away at the generosity shown – he’s now gone beyond £5k which gave him such a boost”.

Anne Shinkwin, Director of Fundraising at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust was also grateful for the fundraising efforts. “On behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, I would like to say a big thank you to Philip for taking on the London Marathon this April. It is thanks to Philip and everyone at Benham and Reeve who are raising much needed funds, that we are able to fund innovative, high-quality research, achieve access to the best treatments, drive up the quality of care, and provide and advocate for their support needs, to help all people with CF live longer and better lives. At a time when our voluntary income has been impacted by the cost of living crisis, all your incredible support is appreciated more than ever”.
