July Celebrity Moves

Recently, people weren’t really talking much about which celebrities were moving house. Go figure. We guess they had a few other things on their minds.  Even in the face of earth-shattering referendums, celebrities still need to live somewhere.  So while some may think the world has come to an end and we’re facing an impending apocalypse, it’s nice to know that some swathes of society remain untouched by what’s happening in the wider world.

Not so dreadful

Penny Dreadful and Hollywood star Josh Harnett clearly sees Britain as his new home.  Following his television success, the star has been seen looking for homes in north London, around the Primrose Hill area.  He’s yet to buy but apparently has a budget of around £3 million.  If he moves to the area, he’ll be in good company as a host of other celebrities including David Walliams live nearby.  Josh, if you want to rent until you find something, how about this lovely Hampstead residence?

A bridge over troubled waters

Sir Ben Kingsley got in a spot of trouble a few years ago when he insisted on using his title professionally.  Historically, actors awarded knighthoods have “left their titles at the stage door”.  When it was pointed out that this wasn’t the done thing, Sir Ben quickly backed down.  The actor clearly has similar grand ideas of his former flat overlooking Hammersmith Bridge and the River Thames.  The two bedroom penthouse is on the market for a fairly reasonable £900,000.  Not bad for a celebrity’s pad.  However, if that’s still too steep, we have this more affordable property.

Fab three-bedder

How’s this for pedigree?  George Harrison and Ringo Starr’s former flat in Knightsbridge is on the market.  Can you imagine telling that to your friends?  The 1,036 square foot property was half the band’s home in the early sixties while their manager, Brian Epstein, lived in the flat above.  George and Ringo lived there with George’s girlfriend, Patti Boyd, who later went on to marry Eric Clapton.  The only problem is that the flat is, well, a bit sixties.  The exterior of the building certainly leaves a little to be desired.  If it’s not to your tastes, this offering is a little more pleasing to the eye.

Exhibitionism

If you stroll down to the Saatchi Gallery, you can take in a fantastic Rolling Stones retrospective that showcases a host of memorabilia and costumes and other items associated with the band.  It soon becomes apparent that the band always had a clear vision of how to present and market itself.  Coincidentally, one of their favourite photography studios has come onto the market.  The Clapham property that has been converted from a Victorian laundry to a photography studio and now to a two bedroom home with volumes of space.  If Clapham’s a bit too nappy valley to be cool for you, we have this alternative apartment that’s a bit more rock n’ roll.

Getting into gear

We hear that new Top Gear co-host Matt LeBlanc is planning to sell his Los Angeles home now that he’s spending so much time in London.  Although Chris Evans has now departed the show, LeBlanc clearly feels that his future is on this side of the Atlantic.  We heard he was searching for a property in Hackney at one point but more recently he’s been seen in and around Kensington. Matt, we have some fantastic options for you in the Kensington area so just give us a call, okay?  This property certainly has star power.
