Vaisakhi Festival: 6 April

At the centre of London’s iconic Trafalgar Square and Covent Gardens, get ready to experience the lively energy of the Vaisakhi festival on the first Saturday of April. Enjoy a day of free cultural events with a colourful celebration of different cultures. From noon to late afternoon, join the joyful festivities with exciting Gatka displays, turban-tying activities, cultural talks, and an array of delicious food and vendors. Don’t forget to savour the delightful flavours of light bites and authentic Indian tea, graciously served as langar to delight your taste buds!

London Coffee Festival: 11 – 14 April

Get ready to indulge in a caffeine buzz at the London Coffee Festival at Truman Brewery on Brick Lane across the second weekend of April. This four-day coffee festival promises a delightful blend of latte art masterclasses, barista tournaments, and some interactive sessions.

Explore a wide range of aromatic-tasting and flavourful samples, ideal for newbies to the coffee world as it is for devoted coffee lovers! Enjoy with a newfound zeal for the black elixir’ as you relish the bold scent and flavours infused within the coffee and the knowledge shared during the event.

Books in the Park: 13 April

Here’s a call out to all the bibliophiles in London! You have an incredible opportunity to experience the world of literature under the trees from dawn to dusk on the second Saturday of the month. This unique event is a new addition to Lewisham’s cultural programme. Participate in stimulating discussions with the authors, explore some thoughtfully curated walking tours, and fuel your imagination in some creative writing sessions.

There will be an event for children and young adults, alongside some renowned individuals such as Claire Ratinon and Ben Jacob, who will join the event with “nature” as the central focus, accompanied by the comedic artist Isabel Losada. Entry is free, but the fees for author sessions might differ.

Earthfest: 18 – 21 April

Gear up for an eco-friendly event ahead of Earth Day at Lewis Cubitt Square as the Camden Clear Air Initiative brings the first-ever Earthfest! You will experience a gathering of well-known speakers, workshops, and exhibitions focused on addressing climate issues. Witness the future of green technology at a special summit on the first day, followed by an industry event the next day. Furthermore, anyone is welcome to attend the event for free on the last two days and partake in discussions about the environment, sustainable fashion sections, and upcycled items!

Eid in the Square 2024: 20 April

As Ramadan fasting comes to a close, celebrate Eid-al-Fitr at Trafalgar Square on the third Saturday of April. The celebrations start at noon and go on until 6 pm. Enjoy the live music, captivating cultural performances, and an exhibition of mouth-watering street foods from India, Venezuela, Somalia, and many more countries. Participate in fun activities such as face painting and Mehndi art with your family, or immerse yourself in the world of creativity at the “Creative Art Zone” with workshops on calligraphy and storytelling.

The London Marathon: 21 April

London is gearing up for a grand show of human strength on the third Sunday of April, as 50,000 athletes hit the road for the esteemed London Marathon. The race begins in Greenwich and concludes at Buckingham Palace. Along the route, there are some well-known landmarks, such as the Cutty Sark at Mile 6, the iconic Tower Bridge at Mile 12, and the towering Canary Wharf at Mile 18.

As the runners compete, they will surpass the iconic Tower of London at Mile 22, the London Eye at Mile 25, and ultimately reach the grand finish line at Buckingham Palace. Even non-runners are invited to cheer and support the participants as they take on the arduous yet fulfilling challenge of running over 26 miles.

BrewLDN: 24 – 27 April

An incredible beer festival at BrewLDN is ready to take over the South Bank in the last week of April. With a single-day ticket worth £10, beer enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of craft brews from top local and international brewers. Some of the world-famous breweries in London, such as Toast Brewing and Renegade Brewery, will be featured alongside world-class international brands like SXOLLIE.

While the DJs keep the energy throbbing, recharge yourself with delicious street food and enjoy a few drinks. An impressive crowd of 12,000 people, guarantees a vibrant energy that will incite even the most hardcore beer lovers to hit the dance floor! It’s a bash that you surely wouldn’t want to miss!
